Leader Rosemary O’Toole List Opens July/August. Final Payment September.
Come with us to visit the family-owned 5th generation cider makers in Herefordshire. In 1880 Henry Weston first started crafting cider from the bittersweet apples grown on his farm in Much Marcle. The guided tour will show you everything from where they harvest, weigh and wash their apples, where they press, ferment and mature before blending and packing. See how the cider magic happens and learn about the history and craft of cider making with an expert guide and finish with a tutored tasting. After the tour we shall go on to Ross-on-Wye which has been voted the UK’s best-loved market town. It is well known for its many excellent independent and specialist shops, galleries, restaurants and cafes. Thursday is market day in the square.
There is also a vintage shopping trail. Dominating the town is a spire of St Mary the Virgin Parish Church and next to it the famous Prospect Gardens.
