A brief description of a typical meeting:

We look at artists from the Italian Renaissance right up to the present day with all stops in-between including Fauvism, Cubism and a lot of other Ism’s. Still many others to explore.
While looking at the paintings we try to see what the artist is trying to achieve, the impact the painting may have, and (as looking at Art can be a very personal thing) if we actually like it. Of course, you cannot please all of the people all of the time, so this is when conversations start to take shape.
A current subject we have viewed is the art of Railway Posters, which may not spring to mind as a topic but gave an extremely stimulating and popular meeting.
Some of the modern painters we have evaluated included Beryl Cook and David Hockney.

Ladies who lunch - Beryl Cook

Riverside View - Raoul Dufy

The Yorkshire Coast - Laura Knight
