Mahjong

Status:Active, open to new members
When: Monthly on Thursday afternoons 2:00 pm-4:00 pm
3rd Thursday
Venue: Leader's home

Leader/Coordinator: Susan M

Aims and Objectives of the group:

To play Mahjong.
Mahjong is a classic, tile-based game from China, similar to the card game rummy, where players aim to form winning combinations of tiles to create a complete hand.

Any expertise needed:

As a new group, we'll have to see what expertise the initial members have, and take it from there!
We envisage a beginners’ table with tuition on hand from the Group Leader,  and a table for the more experienced players.  Should numbers reach 12 members, an intermediate table will also be added. So there’s room for every level.

Equipment needed:

None

Maximum number permitted in the group: 14

A brief description of a typical meeting:

Our Mahjong games will begin promptly and there will be a break for refreshments mid way. Occasionally , during the break, there will be a short, fun, game related quiz to ensure we are all understanding the rules of the game as we progress as a group. There will be a trophy at the Christmas gathering, (along with hot mince pies and mulled wine) for the best player of the year.
